Customized Parts Surface Preparation Services
Improve part performance by selecting high quality surface finishes to enhance the roughness, hardness, chemical resistance and aesthetics of the finished part.
CNC parts surface treatment capability
Whether through CNC machining or parts, the appearance of the final product requires rigorous post-processing. In order to meet the specific surface application requirements of customer parts, the durability, abrasion resistance, corrosion resistance and aesthetics of CNC parts are enhanced.
xavier offers a comprehensive range of CNC part post-processing services to meet your diverse needs. With our dedicated technical team, state-of-the-art equipment and strong surface treatment supply chain, we are committed to high standards in color, texture, gloss and surface smoothness, aiming to exceed your expectations.
Surface treatment process control
Ever had problems with surface texture or defects on CNC parts? Don’t worry – xavier has partnered with a surface finishing facility that has over 10 years of experience. Two surface treatment engineers oversee process control, and a dedicated SQE (Supplier Quality Engineer) closely monitors every stage of the surface treatment facility. Upon return to the factory, we perform a 100% inspection of the product’s appearance to ensure quality.
xavier provides the best surface treatment service. According to customers’ requirements, for different effects and materials, we offer a wide range of surface treatments, such as oxidizing, sandblasting, polishing, plating, powder coating, baking paint, PVD, laser engraving, blackening, brushing, heat treatment, etching and so on. In addition to the above conventional surface treatments, there are also various special surface treatments. Please refer to the attached picture below.
Selecting the right surface finish for a prototype part
after processing
Standard surface finish with a surface roughness of 3.2 μm (126 μin) removes sharp edges and cleanly deburs parts.
Services: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication
Applicable Materials: Metal, Plastic
Color: None
Appearance: Slightly visible surface scratches
Price: $
anodic oxidation
Anodizing is available in Types I, II and III. It is an electrochemical process that creates a durable and corrosion-resistant oxide layer on the surface of metal, which increases the durability of the part and allows for color customization.
Services: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication
Applicable Materials: Aluminum, Titanium
Color: Custom colors available, including clear, black, gray, red, blue, gold, etc.
Appearance: Smooth matte finish
Price: $
Hard anodized
Hard anodizing is a type of anodizing that produces a thicker, harder, more durable oxide layer on metal surfaces, often used in industrial or high wear applications.
Services: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication
Applicable Materials: Aluminum, Titanium
Colors: customized upon request, including black, grey, brown, bronze, etc.
Appearance:
Matte, darker finish
May appear dull or slightly rough
More uniform and non-reflective than decorative anodizing
Price: $$$
Color anodizing
Color anodizing is primarily used for aesthetics and product differentiation, while also providing corrosion protection and durability. It is commonly used in consumer products, architectural and decorative applications.
Services: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication
Applicable Materials: Aluminum, Titanium
Colors: customized upon request, including clear, black, gray, red, blue, gold, etc.
Appearance:
Smooth, uniform, glossy surface
Can be glossy or non-glossy, depending on pretreatment (e.g., polishing or sandblasting)
Colors do not fade easily and have a professional and sophisticated appearance
Price: $$$
sandblast
A powerful process that blasts abrasive onto a surface to remove coatings and impurities.
Services: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication
Applicable materials: metal, plastic
Color: None
Appearance: Smooth Matte Finish
Price: $$
electroplated
Electroplating is a process that uses an electric current to deposit a thin layer of metal on the surface of a workpiece to enhance properties such as corrosion resistance, abrasion resistance, or aesthetics. It is commonly used in industries such as automotive, electronics and jewelry.
Services: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication
Applicable materials: Metal
Color: Chrome (silver, mirror color), Nickel (silver gray), Gold (yellow), Silver (bright white), Copper (reddish brown), Zinc (silver, yellow, black or olive drab).
Appearance:
Depending on the type of plating and finishing method, brightly reflective or matte effect
Smooth, sometimes with a mirror effect, or textured as desired
Durable and protective, enhancing the aesthetics and functional life of parts
Price: $$$

Acceptance Criteria for Exterior Parts
The surface finish of all modules produced by Xavier is RoHS compliant and meets 100% of the surface finish acceptance criteria of the drawings.
Consistency requirements
Each part in the same lot must be consistent in appearance, ie:
- The same grit must be used for grinding or brushing each part.
- Brush marks must be in the same direction**
- When parts are placed side by side, the color must be consistent with the same pantone.
- Gloss units must be consistent with the lot
Manual brush marks will be as unidirectional as possible. Please note that for rounded geometries, the brush marks may not be completely unidirectional.
Visual inspection conditions
The surface quality of each part must meet the following conditions:
- Distance: 50 centimeters ± 10 centimeters (19.7 inches ± 3.9 inches) with 10/10 vision (or corrected)
- Angle of incidence: approximately 45º in all directions
- Illumination: 500-1000 lux, color 3300-5300 Kelvin (neutral white)
